Douglas County Sheriff’s Office

On 2020-04-23, Austin, a local young man with a disability turned 18, but because of the stay order, could not properly celebrate his birthday. Austin LOVES cars, so his mother reached out to the automotive community a couple weeks ago and asked some of us if we could drive by and wave to him for his birthday. Well, that turned into over 2000 cars driving by his house to wave to him and wish him a Happy Birthday.

Many officers from Douglas County Sheriff’s Office spent hours helping coordinate the very unexpected huge numbers of cars and assist in navigating them through the streets to safely make it all possible. Although they could have just shut the entire thing down when the numbers of cars became overwhelming, they instead stepped up and helped all the citizens make an 18-year old’s Birthday something very special.

We want every officer there, and the entire department that supports them to know how very special they helped make that day for Austin and all that participated! Please chip in at least few bucks, so we can buy the department some gift cards to show all of our appreciation!

If monthly donations show up, we will turn this campaign into a regular police-appreciation event and provide recurring gift cards.

On 2020-05-01:

Thanks to all of your incredible donations, we were able to raise $613 and because of the generosity of Abo’s Pizza and Festive Cup Coffee, were able to purchase $800 worse of gift cards for DCSO!

Austin delivered the gift cards to a very surprised (and very appreciative) staff at DCSO as we thanked them for what they did that day!
